Julian Nagelsmann allows a bit of idleness. Before preparations for the first knockout duel at the European Championship begin, the national players have a day off. In the evening, their families have to leave.
Fun at the pool instead of training: Julian Nagelsmann made the wait for the round of 16 opponent easier for his players by giving them a short summer holiday feeling. In glorious sunshine, the national football players were able to spend the day with their families in the team quarters in Herzogenaurach after winning their group at the European Championships.
However, voluntary athletic training was also offered for particularly hard-working individuals, the DFB said.
The families have to leave again by the evening. Then the focus will be on the first knockout duel. From 9 p.m., captain Ilkay Gündogan and his colleagues can watch the last games of Group C between England and Slovenia and Denmark and Serbia on the huge screen in the training quarters. All four of these teams can still finish in second place and thus become Germany’s opponents in the round of 16 on Saturday (9 p.m.) in Dortmund.
