The most successful rider in the world is still hoping for a ticket to Paris. To do this, she has to change her plan for the CHIO in Aachen.
Isabell Werth has to change horses to fight for an Olympic ticket. At the CHIO in Aachen, the seven-time Olympic champion will ride Wendy in the national team, not Quantaz as originally planned.
“The Nations Cup in Aachen is a trial for the Olympic Games in Paris. We would like to see Wendy again in direct comparison with the other Nations Cup horses at five-star level over three competitions,” said national coach Monica Theodorescu about the horse swap.
At the German Championships in Balve just under three weeks ago, Werth delivered disappointing performances with Quantaz, coming fifth in both of the title decisions. She had decided not to start with Wendy because of a bruise. When the horse made its comeback, Werth took two second places in Rotterdam at the weekend.
Also riding in the national team in Aachen are Katharina Hemmer (Erwitte) with Denoix, Ingrid Klimke (Münster) with Franziskus and Frederic Wandres (Hagen aTW) with Bluetooth. Double Olympic champion Jessica von Bredow-Werndl (Tuntenhausen) with Dalera has already secured her ticket to Paris.
