Basketball: Lakers select James Junior – Soon father-son duo in the NBA?

The son of basketball superstar LeBron James has been drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers. Will he soon make a historic appearance?

Father and son James could soon write basketball history with the Los Angeles Lakers. The glamour team from California selected LeBron James’ son, Bronny (19), with the 55th pick of the 2nd round in the NBA Draft. This could mean that a father-son duo could be on the field for the first time in the best basketball league in the world.

Father LeBron has been playing for the Lakers since 2018 and is still one of the best basket hunters in the world at the age of 39. “Legacy” wrote LeBron senior in capital letters on Instagram after his son was chosen. The superstar posted a photo of him and Bronny as a child. LeBron James has often said it is a big goal to play with his son in the NBA one more time before he retires. “This is a historic moment,” said Lakers legend Magic Johnson.

19-year-old Bronny collapsed in July of last year due to cardiac arrest and was taken to the hospital. A few days later he was allowed to leave the hospital again; a congenital heart defect was diagnosed at the time. James Junior returned to college basketball in December, but did not have a particularly good season.

It was therefore unclear whether the young James would be selected at all. The junior will therefore have to recommend himself for a final place in the Lakers squad.
