He only arrived a year ago – and is already gone again: Pablo Laso is resigning as coach of the FC Bayern basketball team for family reasons. The club is already looking for his successor.
Head coach Pablo Laso has surprisingly left the basketball team of FC Bayern Munich. The 56-year-old Spaniard has asked for the termination of his contract, which runs until 2025, for family reasons, the German champions announced.
“Pablo’s personal decision came as a surprise to us, but we respect him very much as a coach and personality and would like to thank him for his work and great commitment in the past, successful season,” said Managing Director Marko Pesic.
The former successful coach of Real Madrid only joined the Munich team a year ago. In his first and only season, he won the double of BBL Cup and championship with Bayern. “We wish Pablo all the best for the future, and not just because of the double win he will always be connected to us,” said Pesic.
The club will provide information about further personnel planning in a timely manner, it said. Pesic is therefore likely to be working hard on the search for a new coach.
