George Russell he wonAustrian Formula 1 Grand Prix for Mercedes after what Max Verstappen, triple world champion of Red Bull, and Lando Norris, of McLarenthey would crash near the end of the race while fighting for the lead.

A slow 6.5sec pit stop for Verstappen on lap 52 brought Norris back into range and the ensuing duel saw the McLaren enjoy a drag reduction advantage as Norris attempted to overtake using DRS.
“The team has done an incredible job to put us in this fight. You have to be there at the end to pick up the pieces and that’s where we were,” he said. Russell before climbing to the top of the podium. “We were only about 12 seconds away and I knew (the collision) was a possibility. You’re always dreaming.”

Russel had come third, with Verstappen on pole and Norris next to him on the front row, but the lead came to him after 64 of the 71 laps.
The two leading drivers touched each other and suffered punctures, Norris returned to the pits and retired, while Verstappen rejoined and finished fifth behind Lewis Hamilton seven-time Mercedes world champion.
The stewards gave the Dutch driver a 10-second penalty for causing the collision, but that had no influence on the result of the race. Verstappenwhich increased its lead in the championship to 81 points over Norris.
Nico Hulkenberg was sixth for Haasa great boost for that team, with Red Bull’s Sergio Pérez seventh and Kevin Magnussen eighth also for Haas.
Daniel Ricciardo gave two points to RB in ninth position and Pierre Gasly took the last point for Alpineproperty of Renault.
