The France of Kylian Mbappé qualified for the semi-finals of the European Championship after winning the penalty shootout (5-3 after a 0-0 draw) against Portugal of Cristiano Ronaldo, this Friday in Hamburg.

On Tuesday in Munich, the French will face each other in the penultimate round of the competition. Spain, who a few hours earlier beat host Germany in extra time (2-1).

French defender Theo Hernandez scored the winning penalty in a 5-3 shootout win over Portugal that sent France through to the semi-finals of the European Championship, where they will face Spain.

Joao Felix failed for Portugal in the penalty shoot-out, after the match ended 0-0 after extra time.

Both teams wasted numerous chances in the 120 minutes of play at the Volksparkstadion, the best of which fell to Cristiano Ronaldo in the first half of extra time.

Frenchman Kylian Mbappé was uncomfortable with the mask he was wearing due to a broken nose and was substituted during extra time.
