Who is Jorge Alberto Comas?

Jorge Alberto Comas, or simply Comitas, marked an era in Boca Juniors with his Olympic goals, his sprints in a matter of seconds and his brilliant left-footed finishes that made rival goalkeepers tremble. His presence on the field is also remembered for setting trends with his unique haircut that caused a sensation among fans, similar to the impact of Martín Palermo’s platinum bob years later. After leaving Boca in 1989 to play for Veracruz, Comas settled permanently in Mexico, moving away from his family and being forgotten by many.

In his football career, Comas debuted in Colon and passed by Velez before reaching Mouth in mid-1986. At the Xeneize club, he quickly won the affection of the fans, forming a memorable forward with Alfredo Graciani and Jorge RinaldiIn total, he played 126 matches and scored 63 goals for the club, being especially remembered for his Olympic goals in 1988 and his performance in the classics.

Why Jorge “Comitas” is detained

Comas’ life took a tragic turn when the Attorney General of the State of Veracruz announced that he had been imposed a two years of preventive detention. The cause of his arrest is related to the probable commission of crimes of Gender violence and injuries against three neighbors.

The accusations became public when one of the victims recounted the incident, describing how the former Boca player physically assaulted her, breaking her glasses and causing injuries. The prosecution reported that Comas was charged in criminal proceedings number 503/2021 and was placed in preventive detention as a precautionary measure.

This is not Comas’ first run-in with the law. In 2012 was arrested for a bar fight and in 2016 for alleged assault on a person in a restaurantDespite his talent and success in football, Comas admits that his temper has been a constant problem in his life.

Since his arrival in Mexico, Comas became an idol at Veracruz, where he was the top scorer in the 89/90 season. However, his life outside football has been marked by the violence and legal conflictsovershadowing his sporting legacy.
