Tiger Woods does not want to be US captain for the 2025 Ryder Cup. Another golf professional will now take on this honor.
Keegan Bradley has been named Ryder Cup captain of the US team following Tiger Woods’ cancellation. The 38-year-old golf professional will lead the US team in the prestigious continental competition against defending champions Europe in 2025. The Ryder Cup will take place at the end of September next year on the Bethpage Black Course near New York.
“My passion and appreciation for golf’s greatest team event has never been greater,” said Bradley, who was a player on the U.S. Ryder Cup team in 2012 and 2014. “The Ryder Cup is unlike any other competition in our sport.”
After the US team’s clear 16.5:11.5 defeat against the European selection last year in Rome, superstar Tiger Woods was the favorite for the captaincy for a long time. But the 48-year-old Californian hesitated for a long time and ultimately declined. Team Europe will once again be led by captain Luke Donald in New York.
