After years of a certain self-righteousness and growing failure, Germany is working its way back up, in football as well as in real life.
It just takes longer – like with the train
You can sense the potential, you can see many positive approaches. But some things just take longer. Nothing has made this process as impressive as Deutsche Bahn, which became the laughing stock of fans: With its absolutely reliable unreliability, it refuted the image of perfectionist Germany among visitors from all over Europe.
In this respect, it was a little like the traffic light government: high expectations, progress only in small steps. The state in which Europeans have experienced this country, with delays, dead spots and blocked stadium entrances, also has a positive side: It is quite reassuring for our European neighbors if Germany functions to some extent in this way.
