Messi’s words that nobody wants to hear: “These are the last battles”

Lionel Messi tonight expressed his happiness for the qualification of the Argentine national team to the final of the America Cup after the victory against Canada by 2 to 0 and stressed that “we have to enjoy it a lot” because these are his “last battles” with the national team.

“These are victories that should be enjoyed a lot, especially for me, as these are my last battles.”Messi said.

He also noted: “It’s crazy what this group did, we give a lot of importance to the finals, especially those of us who remained in the National Team. Being able to play one more final is impressive”.

“The pitch was very bad, the temperature was very high, it was difficult to play, but we did it again and we are in the final again,” said the captain of the Argentine team.

He added: “Let’s enjoy what we are experiencing as a national team and as a group because it is not easy to be in a final again.”

“This victory adds value to all the finals we played before with this group”said Messi and reiterated: “We know that these are our last battles and being able to be in another final once again alongside (Ángel) Di María and (Nicolás) Otamendi, who come from the previous generation, is a great achievement.”

The Inter Miami player later said that “this group competed at its best and did it again. It was very difficult and very hot, but this group does not stop competing and trying.”

“Let’s enjoy this moment and what we’re experiencing. This is the fourth consecutive final that we’re going to play in and we have to enjoy it because the whole journey was very tough,” Messi concluded.

The captain of the Argentine national team will play a new final with the team led by Lionel Scaloni and it will be next Sunday, July 14 in Miami against the winner of the match between Uruguay and Colombia.
