Shock over the death of a cyclist on the KDT circuit in Sarmiento Park

Jorge Horche, Argentine cyclist, He passed away last Saturday at the KDT circuit in Sarmiento Park in Buenos Aires, and caused a commotion among all those present.

His daughter, Florence Horchereported on social media that the cyclist suffered a sudden heart failure around 1:05 p.m. and could not be resuscitated despite the efforts of the cyclists present, including a doctor.

Florencia criticised the lack of preventive measures such as automatic defibrillators and personnel trained in first aid, which are mandatory under Law 27,159. She also revealed that the doctor on duty was absent without a replacement, and the defibrillator was not initially accessible due to a locked room.

The authorities of the The City of Buenos Aires initiated an administrative investigation into the circumstances, confirming that the assigned medical staff was on leave that day.

The emergency service arrived around 45 minutes after the incident, and despite resuscitation efforts, Horche could not be saved.

Alberto Crescenti, director of SAMEsaid the ambulance responded ten minutes after the initial 911 call, with a second one arriving a minute later. CPR continued for 30 minutes without success.

The incident has undoubtedly prompted calls for authorities to improve safety conditions in public spaces, ensuring that tragedies like this can be avoided in the future.
