Before the European Championship final on Sunday evening between Spain and England (2:1), UEFA confirmed once again that the number of goals scored was the only criterion. Assists or minutes played were not taken into account in the ranking.

The record for the most goals at a single European Championship is held by the Frenchman Michel Platini: in 1984 he scored nine times in just five games.
