Tadej Pogacar is dominating the Tour de France and is on the verge of his third overall victory. But he has recently been in the spotlight not only because of his exceptional performances, but also because of a luxury watch that he wears during the race.
At the start of the third and final week of racing, Tadej Pogacar is comfortably leading the Tour de France with a lead of 3:09 minutes over his closest rival Jonas Vingegaard. It will be difficult to take the Tour victory away from him, but it remains exciting. The Slovenian’s victory is not yet certain.
Before the 16th stage continues on Tuesday after a rest day, the Slovenian attracted attention with another story: his luxury watch, which he also wears during the race. This is unusual because it could break in the event of a fall. After all, it is worth the same as a family home, around 340,000 euros.
Pogacar is considered a watch lover. However, he suggested that he did not buy the watch, but was given it by a sponsor. Of course, the strap is yellow like the jersey of the overall leader, which Pogacar is wearing. It weighs 32 grams. Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz, who is a friend of Pogacar, wears a similar version. “I love watches. And the opportunity to wear the model during the Tour thanks to a sponsor is very nice for me,” said Pogacar. To put it into perspective: The good piece costs more than the second-place finisher (200,000 euros) and the third-place finisher (100,000 euros) receive in prize money after three weeks of hard work.
Another luxury watch was stolen from Tadej Pogacar
Last year, Pogacar made headlines with his penchant for watches. However, the 25-year-old would have preferred to do without them. During the Paris-Nice race, thieves gained access to his room in the team hotel and stole a watch worth 165,000 euros. “I will never forget that moment,” said Pogacar.

The watch has not been found to date, but the two men have been sentenced to four years in prison. “The watch meant a lot to me. I find it amazing that they were able to sell the watch so quickly without a box or paperwork,” said Pogacar. The two-time Tour winner has an emotional connection to his watches. The purchase price – if he had to pay it – would not deter him. The cycling star, who lives in Monaco, is reportedly paid six million euros a year by his UAE team.
