What will the federal government spend money on in 2025? Most ministries will receive more money than the finance minister wanted to give. The DOSB is satisfied with the budget.
The German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) has welcomed the federal government’s budget for 2025 and the strengthening of sport it envisages. “These positive signals come at exactly the right time, just a few days before the start of the Olympic Games in Paris,” said Torsten Burmester, Chairman of the Board of the DOSB.
Associations, athletes and coaches can now concentrate on their performances at the Summer Games. “This support from politicians gives us a boost,” said Burmester, according to the statement. The federal government led by Chancellor Olaf Scholz wants the sports budget to increase by 49 million euros to 331 million euros. This was decided by the federal cabinet. The draft is now to be presented to the Bundestag.
The traffic light government wants to support the possible process of a German bid for the Olympic and Paralympic Games with 2.2 million euros. “The joint appeal from the top sports institutions and the numerous discussions of the past few weeks have had an effect,” explained Burmester. The only downside is the DOSB’s continued “lack of support for grassroots sport,” the official added.
