Thousands of Olympic athletes together for several weeks: The Olympic Village is considered the largest dating event in the world. Even rumors about “anti-sex beds” in Paris cannot change that.
Eight days before the start of the Summer Olympics in Paris, the first athletes moved into the Olympic Village. The 52-hectare area is located north of Paris, in the suburbs of Saint-Denis and Saint-Ouen. There is a crèche, a non-alcoholic bar, and a cafeteria with thousands of seats. Most recently, however, the main focus was on the sleeping situation of the athletes.
In the 82 newly constructed residential buildings, the athletes will sleep on beds that are only 90 centimeters wide and made of cardboard. Media outlets such as the “New York Post” concluded that the cardboard constructions are “anti-sex beds” designed to prevent the athletes from getting close to each other in the city of love.
