Elena emigrated to Mexico between 2001 and 2003 together with her husband Nikolay Suetov, both with the dream of building a new life. They managed to get a job in the San Agustin Sports Club from Monterrey and were recognized in the skating community, becoming part of the State Winter Sports Association and the Mexican Federation of Ice Skating and Winter Sports.
