The NBA legend and all-time leading scorer has been chosen to be the flag bearer for the United States Olympic team at the Paris 2024 ceremony.
The basketball player Lebron Jamesfour-time champion of the NBAwill be the male flag bearer of USA at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games of Parison July 26, Team USA announced on Monday.
The 39-year-old two-time Olympic gold medalist will compete in his fourth Olympic Games.
“It’s an incredible honor to represent the United States on this global stage, especially at a time that can unite the entire world.”James said in a statement.
“For a kid from Akron, this responsibility means everything to not only me, but to my family, all the kids in my hometown, my teammates, fellow Olympians and so many people across the country with high aspirations.”he added.
“Sport has the power to unite us all, and I am proud to be part of this important moment”he pointed.
The name of her female counterpart, who will also carry the flag on a barge alongside the boats that will transport all the other teams down the River Seine in front of 300,000 spectators, will be announced on Tuesday.
James and its flag bearer were chosen by a vote of Team USA athletes.
