Before the Olympics in Paris: Special praise from the record holder: Fruit inspires US basketball players

Stephen Curry is considered the best three-point shooter in basketball history. In the last Olympic test, however, the US star had to watch his German counterpart shine.

Basketball superstar Stephen Curry explicitly highlighted his German counterpart Andreas Obst after the thrilling Olympic dress rehearsal. “It’s great to see this comparison: There are guys who have modeled a small part of their game on me. He’s a great shooter. I saw it last year, I saw it tonight. He demands full attention at all times,” said Curry in London after the Olympic champion’s laborious 92:88 victory over Germany.

“He changed the game”

While the 36-year-old point guard from the Golden State Warriors only made one of his seven three-point attempts, Obst converted five of eleven shots and scored a total of 17 points.

“He changed the game. It was exciting to play against him. It was a very special experience,” said the FC Bayern Munich professional about his role model from the North American professional league. Last year, Obst contributed 24 points in the World Cup semi-final in Manila and thus played a key role in the USA’s elimination.

Curry is considered the best three-point shooter in NBA history and holds the major records. In the regular season, the point guard made 3,747 three-point shots, almost 800 more than Ray Allen, who played over 300 more games. Curry and US flag bearer LeBron James lead the basketball squad for the Olympic Games.
