A new object linked to the history of Diego Armando Maradona will be auctioned by the renowned house Sotheby’snext August 22: it is the shirt that used in the semi-final of the 1986 World Cup in Mexico against Belgium.
In that match, played on June 25 at the Azteca Stadium, the historic number 10 of the Argentine national team scored two goals against the Belgian team, although it was a performance that was overshadowed by what was achieved in the previous match, against England.
At the end of the meeting, Maradona exchanged shirts with goalkeeper Jean Marie Pfaffwho kept it for 38 years. In 2016 he met the star again, whom he asked to sign it, a request to which he agreed and attached a special dedication. As of 2023, it has been on display at the ”Museum of the Nice”, in Beveren, Belgium.

In 2022, he sold the shirt that Diego Maradona wore against England, reaching almost nine million dollars. Now, the semi-final shirt against Belgium promises to be another big event for collectors and football fans.
