Minnesota coach Dean Evason confirmed on Tuesday that the 20-year-old from Vorarlberg, like Matt Boldy, will play against the Bruins in Boston. The duo, who storm in a line on the Iowa Wild farm team in the AHL, was named to the Wild’s NHL squad on Tuesday.
“You will get the opportunity to play in Boston. Then we’ll see,” said Evason, who is not raising expectations. “If you don’t score five goals and fuel our power play, it’s okay too. It’s a process,” said the coach. “We don’t expect them to take us to the promised land, but we want them to play like Minnesota Wild, with courage, determination, heart and skill.”
Minnesota can really use the two 20-year-old strikers. With Joel Eriksson Ek (upper body) and Jordan Greenway (Corona), two attackers are permanently out, Nik Bjugstad had to break off Monday training injured. According to information from The Hockey News, the club wants to part with Victor Rask.
After Reinhard Divis, Christoph Brandner, Thomas Pöck, Thomas Vanek, Andreas Nödl, Michael Grabner and Michael Raffl, who is currently playing for the Dallas Stars, Rossi will be the eighth Austrian in the NHL.
