The Spanish Rafael Nadal suffered a physical problem on Wednesday that has put his expected participation in the Olympic Games of Paris 2024said his coach, Carlos Moya, on Thursday.
“He had a problem yesterday morning, in the afternoon he was more limited and before it got worse he decided to stop”Moya explained in statements to Spanish National Radio.
Thursday’s break “was the most responsible thing to do, given the size of an event of this magnitude that took place in two days.” “We must not push him for the moment and give him time to see if he recovers well. We will see what condition he is in tomorrow and on Saturday.”he added.
These Games are one of Nadal’s most important events in the final stretch of his legendary career, the last few seasons of which have been marked by a succession of injuries.

The winner of 22 Grand Slam titles is scheduled to make his debut on Sunday in the singles tournament against Hungarian Marton Fucsovics and a day earlier in the doubles, partnering his heir. Carlos Alcaraz.
Moya said Saturday’s doubles match could be a “good test” to gauge Nadal’s condition, but stressed that at this stage he cannot confirm whether he is fit to compete in the Games.
“I can’t guarantee anything, not that he won’t play or that he will play”he said. “At the moment, the plan is for him to rest and undergo treatment. Any discomfort that Rafa may have at the moment must be taken with a grain of salt and with caution.”
“He is obviously very excited to play in these Olympic Games. It is a date that has been marked on his calendar for years.”he recalled.
“He is a born competitor and wants to play singles and doubles. He is very excited about the doubles with Alcaraz, it is the first time they play together and it is something historic for Spanish tennis,” he concluded.
