FIFA has opened an investigation into the Olympic blunder between Argentina and Morocco

During the match, the Argentine players were attacked from the stands after a goal that would have meant a 2-2 draw, which led to the temporary suspension of the match.

The AFA, headed by Claudio Tapia, filed a formal complaint with FIFA, requesting that measures be taken and those responsible be punished. They also asked that Argentina be awarded the victory due to the attacks suffered by its players.

The head of the Argentine delegation’s mission, Carlos Ferrea, supported this action and criticized the whistles and attacks against the team.

FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee has announced that it will appoint an integrity expert to assist in the investigation of possible breaches of FIFA regulations. The expert will be able to request the opening of disciplinary proceedings and propose sanctions against associations, clubs and individuals involved in the incidents.

The match, which was played at the Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium in Saint-Etienne, ended with a 2-1 victory for Morocco after the game was resumed following a long suspension.

Javier Mascherano, coach of the Argentine team, expressed his discontent with the lack of security and the way the authorities handled the situation.
