Typical Spa weather. It’s raining in the Ardennes. Max Verstappen keeps an eye on things in the final Formula 1 practice session.
In the rain at Spa-Francorchamps, world champion Max Verstappen set the fastest time in the final training session. The Red Bull driver set the fastest lap on the slippery 7.004-kilometer-long course in the Ardennes in 2:01.565 minutes. In difficult conditions and with only a few laps completed, Oscar Piastri finished second in the McLaren. Before qualifying on Saturday (4 p.m./RTL and Sky), Alpine driver Pierre Galsy finished the rather inconclusive one-hour session in third place. Haas veteran Nico Hülkenberg came twelfth.
However, after just twelve minutes, the session on the slippery asphalt was temporarily interrupted after Lance Stroll crashed into the barrier in his Aston Martin and damaged the front suspension. However, the Canadian was able to get out of his car on his own.
Verstappen leads the World Championship standings by 76 points over McLaren’s Lando Norris, who finished fourth in the third practice session. However, the leader from the Netherlands has not been able to win in the last three Grand Prix.
