France won his first gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and the first of any kind in rugby men’s sevens, where Antoine Dupont led two-time defending champions Fiji to a stunning 28-7 victory on an unforgettable night at the Stade de France on Saturday. It was the hosts’ first ever medal at their Games, but it was also an all-time opening day in which Australia topped the medal table.

This Saturday marked the opening of the podiums for Paris 2024. Swimming brought joy to the oceanic giant, but road cycling, judo, archery and fencing also stood out.
