The women’s archery team Mexico made history by winning the first medal in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after winning the bronze medal after beating the Netherlands.
This is the fourth medal in the discipline for Mexicoafter the silver of Aída Roman and the bronze of Mariana Avitia in London 2012 (Women’s Individual) and the bronze of the mixed team (Luis Álvarez, Alejandra Valencia) in Tokyo 2020.

The road was not easy, as the duel against the Europeans gave no respite. The Mexican trio had won the first set 50-57, but the Dutch reacted and took the second, thus tying the set 2-2.
In the third set, Alejandra Valencia, Ana Paula Vázquez and Ángela Ruiz scored 56, while the Netherlands scored 52, so they only needed to tie the fourth set to secure the bronze. The Mexicans did not get complacent and beat the Netherlands 52-57, thus securing the bronze medal.
To secure a medal, Mexico defeated Germany in the quarterfinals. German archers Katharina Bauer, Michelle Kroppe and Charline Schwarz fell 5-1 to the Mexicans. In the semifinals, the Mexican representatives lost 5-3 to China.
Led by Valenciabetween tears and smiles, the Mexicans highlighted the fact, and recognized that it hurt them not to fight for the gold, but they became stronger after the defeat.
