Football transfers: Report: FC Barcelona reportedly reached agreement with Leipzig’s Olmo

Now all that’s left is for RB to play along. The Catalans and European champion Dani Olmo are said to have reached a verbal agreement. But what Leipzig do now is crucial.

According to a report by broadcaster Sky, European football champion Dani Olmo has reached a verbal agreement with FC Barcelona. His current club RB Leipzig and the bosses of the Catalans are now in concrete negotiations.

After an exit option for a fixed transfer fee of 60 million euros has expired, the Saxons are still demanding the 60 million euros plus bonus payments for Olmo, Sky reported. Olmo, who was trained in FC Barcelona’s youth team, is the desired transfer of club president Joan Laporta as well as sports director Deco and German coach Hansi Flick.

At RB Leipzig since 2020

“He played a very strong European Championship, so it was clear that other top clubs were knocking on the door. Transfers are part of the business and are a source of income. But they are also just one of many. One thing is clear: we will not sell any player for less than he is worth,” said RB managing director Johann Plenge in a recent interview with “Kicker”.

Olmo did not go on the club’s trip to the USA; the 26-year-old is still on vacation after the European Championship triumph. Olmo has been playing for RB since January 2020 and his contract is valid until the end of June 2027.
