However, France came out very determined in the second half and kept Spain in their own half until they were able to reduce the deficit through Maghnes Akliouche, who deflected a free kick from the right into the six-yard box.

At the end of the match, Brazilian referee Ramon Abatti Abel reviewed a hold in the area through the VAR and awarded a penalty to the home team. Jean-Philippe Mateta converted from the penalty spot to level the match.

France fell asleep in the first half of extra time and paid dearly for it: Sergio Camello twice scored the final 5-3 for Spain, which meant the title.
