Independiente returned to winning ways, while Vélez and Instituto remain close to the top

Overwhelmed by poor results, Independiente found some relief from its stormy present and celebrated after two months, beat Estudiantes 2-0 away, in one of the matches played on Sunday night for the tenth date of the Argentine Professional Football League.

Kevin Lomonaco (34) and the Paraguayan Gabriel Avalos (62) scored the goals for the victory of the Red Devils, who have only won two of their last ten matches, and the first with Julio Vaccari as coach.

The victory helped Independiente to get out of the bottom positions and out of an uncomfortable position after a very poor start to the championship, while Estudiantes suffered an unexpected setback at home that prevented them from getting into the top five in the table.

Banfield-Vélez Sarsfield

Vélez had a great chance to climb to the top of the table if they got all three points, but they missed a huge opportunity after being two goals ahead, and had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Banfield in an entertaining and changing match.

Francisco Pizzini (16) and Claudius Aquino (57) scored the goals for Fortín, who also had everything in their favor because goalkeeper Tomás Marchiori (54) saved a penalty from Ignacio Rodríguez, but the Taladro of Uruguayan Gustavo Munúa recomposed himself and came back to equalize with a double of Bruno Sepulveda (62 and 75).

Platense Institute

Instituto took another step up the table by beating Platense 2-0 in Córdoba, with the headers scored Fernando Alarcon (82) and Facundo Suarez (89), and with this victory the red and white club climbed to fifth place in the standings.

Central Cordoba-Defense

Central Córdoba celebrated its first victory of the championship and defeated the sunken Defensa y Justicia by 2-0, with the goals of Rafael Barrios (23) and Matias Godoy (55).
