UEFA Super Cup: Mbappé in the starting eleven: competitive debut for Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappé hasn’t been at Real Madrid for long. But this evening the superstar can win his first title in the Real Madrid jersey. He will play from the start against Bergamo.

Football superstar Kylian Mbappé will make his competitive debut for Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup. Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has nominated the 25-year-old Frenchman for the starting eleven. “He arrived in good shape and has adapted very well to the team,” said Ancelotti before the evening’s match (9 p.m., Sat.1 and DAZN) against the Italian Europa League winners Atalanta Bergamo in Warsaw. German international Antonio Rüdiger will also play from the start in the Royal’s first competitive match since Toni Kroos’ retirement.

Mbappé was introduced to the Royal Club almost a month ago. He came from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer and signed a contract with the Royal Club until 2029. Fans of the Champions League winners are hoping for a title-rich future with the 2018 World Champion.

Mbappé was absent from Real Madrid’s US tour in preparation for the new season because he was on holiday in Germany after the European Championships in the summer. With the Frenchman, the Brazilian Vinícius Júnior and, among others, former Dortmund player Jude Bellingham, Real’s offensive line is full of world class players. “A big problem,” joked Ancelotti. Thinking about who is playing ruined his holidays.

“There are no problems for us because there are so many games,” said the Italian. “I can’t imagine having to rely on the same eleven players for 70 games.” In the first competitive game of the season, Ancelotti could win the next title with Real. The last German winner of the match between the Champions League winner and the Europa League winner was FC Bayern in 2020.
