Jan Hörl, who shone third in the individual competition on Saturday, veteran Manuel Fettner, Philipp Aschenwald and Huber won the thriller with 1015.5 points ahead of Japan (1006.4) and Norway (1006.2). Even at the first team event in Wisla at the beginning of December, the ÖSV eagles had the upper hand.
“It’s going well for us,” said Fettner, who had reached the daily maximum distance of 137 meters. “They were good jumps, we deservedly won,” said Aschenwald, who had confirmed his rising form with a fifth place on Saturday. The reward is the leadership in the Nations Cup and a good feeling with a view towards the Olympics.
Before that, however, it goes to Zakopane, where the shapeless figurehead of the ÖSV team, Stefan Kraft, will be missing. After a disappointing 17th place in the individual, the Salzburg resident withdraws to individual training.
