According to media reports, the father of Spanish European football champion Lamine Yamal has been stabbed to death. He was attacked on Wednesday evening in the city of Mataró, around 30 kilometers northeast of Barcelona, the newspaper “La Vanguardia” reported, citing the police and other Spanish media.
The man suffered two stab wounds to his abdomen and was taken to hospital in a serious condition. His life is not in danger, however. His condition is stable. There was initially no official confirmation of the incident.

The police have arrested three suspects. They are accused of attempted murder. The attack was reportedly preceded by an incident involving Yamal’s father and three suspects. He told the police that he was insulted and thrown water at by the suspects while he was walking on the street.
