After a video was published, Carina Cassøe Krüth was punished by the association. She has already missed the Olympics.
The Danish dressage rider Carina Cassøe Krüth has been temporarily excluded from the national team because of whipping. The reason for this is a video in which Cassøe Krüth can be seen violently whipping a horse. The Danish Equestrian Federation announced this on its website.
The rider’s behavior in the training video from 2022 was incompatible with the norms and values described in the sports plan for the riders of the association squad and the national team, it said. How long the exclusion would apply was not initially known.
First just a fine
Cassøe Krüth was actually supposed to travel to the Olympic Games in Paris as a reserve rider with the Danish dressage team, but withdrew her participation shortly before the team composition was announced. According to the Ritzau news agency, this happened after the video was leaked to the Danish Equestrian Federation. The rider won European Championship bronze with the Danish team a year ago and World Championship gold in 2022.
The association initially imposed a fine of the equivalent of 670 euros on Cassøe Krüth. The dressage rider’s temporary exclusion came after the video was published on the Internet and sparked fierce criticism from the Danish public.
