He boxing Olympic remains at the center of controversy following accusations of corruption against the International Boxing Association (IBA) and the exclusion of two Kazakh judges during the Olympics of Paris 2024which rekindled the debate on the integrity of refereeing in sport.
Judges Alisher Altayev, who is rated as high risk, and Yermek Suiyenish, who is rated as medium risk, were removed midway through the tournament for possible corruption offences.
The exclusion of both judges, who participated in a total of 46 fights, was a sign of concern about transparency in refereeing, especially in a discipline that has faced irregularities in past editions of the Olympic Games.
The criticism was not limited to the removal of the judges, as in Italy the boxer Irma Testa criticised the level of refereeing after her elimination in the first round.
