Following the arrests in connection with the knife attack on the father of Barca star Lamine Yamal, the judge in charge has apparently ordered pre-trial detention for one of the four suspects.

Four suspects are at the centre of the investigation into the knife attack on Mounir Nasraoui – the father of the Spanish European football champion Lamine Yamal. According to media reports, one of the suspects has now been remanded in custody. The other three arrested after the attack were released on conditional release by a judge in Mataró. They could be charged with attempted manslaughter or incitement or aiding and abetting manslaughter.

The conditions include a ban on approaching or contacting the victim, Mounir Nasraoui. The suspects are Spaniards who all belong to the same family, reported the newspaper “La Vanguardia”.

Nasraoui got into an argument with residents of his district in Mataró, about 30 kilometers northeast of Barcelona, on Wednesday after a child reportedly sprayed him with water from a balcony.

Nasraoui is said to have told police that the suspects had set a trap for him that evening. They had lured him to a parking lot under the pretext of wanting to make peace with him and then attacked him without warning, reported “La Vanguardia”.

Nasraoui suffered two stab wounds in the abdomen and one in the chest. He was only able to leave the hospital after two days.
