Fabian Hürzeler was promoted to the Bundesliga with St. Pauli. He is now training in England – and his Premier League debut is going very well. There are no new signings yet.
Fabian Hürzeler celebrated his first victory on his Premier League debut as coach of Brighton & Hove Albion. The Seagulls beat Everton FC 3-0 (1-0). Kaoru Mitoma (25th), Danny Welbeck (56th) and Simon Adingra (86th) scored. The 31-year-old Hürzeler moved from Bundesliga newcomers FC St. Pauli to Brighton in the summer. Brajan Gruda, who moved from FSV Mainz to the Seagulls on Thursday, has not yet played.
National player Niclas Füllkrug, on the other hand, lost with his new team West Ham United. The Hammers lost 1:2 (1:1) to Aston Villa. The former Dortmund player was not in the starting eleven and was substituted in the 73rd minute. Lucas Paqueta scored for West Ham (37th minute). Amadou Onana (4th minute) and Jhon Durán (79th minute) were successful for the guests.
Arsenal FC started the new season with a comfortable victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Thanks in part to a goal by national player Kai Havertz (25th minute), the Gunners won 2-0 (1-0). Bukayo Saka scored the second goal (74th minute).
Liverpool wins first game without Klopp
Liverpool FC, meanwhile, made a successful start to the post-Jürgen Klopp era. Under their new coach Arne Slot, the Reds beat Ipswich Town 2-0 (0-0). In front of pop star and Ipswich fan Ed Sheeran, Diogo Jota (60th minute) and Mohamed Salah (65th) scored the goals for the guests, who have not yet signed any new players this summer.
In the somewhat erratic first half, Liverpool had more possession, but made a few mistakes and hardly posed a goal threat. Newly promoted Ipswich, with new signing Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City on the bench, played bravely but were unable to pose a real threat to the Reds. After goals from Jota and Salah, Liverpool seemed liberated and didn’t let anything slip. Much to the disappointment of Sheeran, who is now also a minority shareholder in the club.
The 57-year-old Klopp left Liverpool FC in the summer of his own accord after almost nine years and numerous titles because, according to his own statement, he was running out of energy. The Reds signed Slot, who is twelve years younger than him, as his successor. The Dutchman had previously celebrated several successes with Feyernoord Rotterdam, including the Dutch championship and the cup win.
