FIFA President: Infantino pays tribute to Neuer: “Goalkeeping redefined”

Reactions to Manuel Neuer’s resignation from the national football team are increasing on social networks. FIFA boss Infantino has also spoken out.

FIFA boss Gianni Infantino also paid tribute to Manuel Neuer’s international career after his retirement from the national football team. “As a FIFA World Champion, The Best FIFA World Goalkeeper 2020 and two-time winner of the FIFA Club World Cup, Manuel Neuer has redefined modern goalkeeping and his contribution to our great sport will continue to shape future generations,” the president of the world association wrote on Instagram and posted several pictures of Neuer.

The 38-year-old goalkeeper of FC Bayern Munich announced his retirement from the DFB team on Wednesday. Neuer will, however, continue to play for the German record champions. “I wish you all the best,” Infantino continued.

Numerous current and former national players had also reacted similarly on Instagram, with the majority praising Neuer as the best German and international goalkeeper ever.
