For the first time in its history, the Tennis Hall of Fame will have no new members

The others considered for admission to the Salon, which consecrated its first members in 1955, were the champion of the US Open 2015 Flavia Pennetta and the former doubles players Cara Black Zimbabwean and American Lisa Raymond.

All six nominees will appear on the ballot next year, as Hall of Fame policies allow nominees to remain on the ballot for up to three years should they fail to gain entry.

To be selected for induction, a candidate must be approved by 75% or more of the combined results of the official voting group, which includes media, historians, Hall of Famers and industry experts, and bonus points earned from a fan vote.

“The International Tennis Hall of Fame induction process is a multi-step process of review and consideration by committees and voters,” Hall of Fame CEO Todd Martin said in a statement.

In November, it was announced that Black, Italy’s Pennetta, and Serbia’s Ivanovic ranked first, second, and third in fan voting, respectively.

The Tennis Hall of Fame will hold an induction ceremony in July, as Lleyton Hewitt, honored in 2021, was unable to travel to last year’s event due to restrictions imposed by Covid-19.
