The former basketball player asked to move forward against seven members of Pol Paichil Antriao who claim to be natives of the area for hundreds of years.

A Mapuche conflict in Villa Langostura It stars the former basketball player Emanuel “Manu” Ginobili. The defendants claim to have been natives of the area for hundreds of years. As part of their claim, in June 2018 they occupied a house located within the land purchased by Ginóbili to guarantee the “territorial protection”.

There were instances of mediation that did not come to fruition. Ginóbili decided not to continue down that path and asked his lawyer to request before the Villa La Angostura Court Office that a case be brought forward for this fact, also adding the crime of threats.

Patricia Bullrich’s support

The Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, expressed his solidarity with Manu Ginóbili’s claim on his X account. Without mincing words, he stated that the accused with “pseudo-Mapuche criminals”. Then he added: “In this government, law, order and respect for private property prevail.”

His stance against the Mapuche community’s claims has a history that dates back to his previous management of Security in the government of Mauricio Macri between 2015 and 2019. During those years, He commissioned successive eviction operations and led campaigns to discredit them.

The most dramatic moments of that stage were the deaths of Santiago Maldonado and Rafael Nahuel, occurred in the context of eviction operations. Maldonado was missing for months until he was found dead on the banks of a river. Nahuel was shot in the back during an eviction.
