The exports of SMEs grew by 15% and reached US$5.395 million exported, which represents 11.5%of the total exported by the Argentine Republic in the period January – July 2024.

In volume, SMEs exported 4.8 million tons, 22.7% more than the first 7 months accumulated in 2023. This similarity between dollar and volume growth indicates real growth in SME exports. With these values, small and medium-sized enterprises exported, on average, US$1,125 per ton, 6.3% less than the same cumulative period in 2023.


Of the 3,873 companies that sold abroad in this period, 2,787 are SMEs; that is, in the period analyzed, 72% of operators are SMEs.

SME exports: sector analysis
The MEP analyzes 16 headings that group the tariff items from chapter 1 to 99 of the Common Nomenclature of Mercosur, amendment 2024.
In the first 7 months of the year, 4 of the 16 sectors analyzed showed declineswith tobacco and derivatives being the category with the greatest decline (-15.7%). On the other hand, the category that grew the most in dollars was that of various manufactured goods (1,761%). Measured in tons. The largest increase was in textiles and textile manufactures (438%), while the largest drop also occurred in the tobacco and derivatives sector (-22.1%).
33.9% (US$1,829.4 million) of Argentine SME exports were due to South America as the main destination, with Brazil and Chile standing out as the main partners (US$1,180.9 million).

The second most important continent for Argentine small and medium-sized businesses is Asia (23.4%), where China, Russia and Israel are the main trading partners (US$886.1 million).
