These are all the security measures found inside a  bill

The US Currency program has provided important information to determine the authenticity of its currency specimens.

In our eagerness to take refuge from the imminent possibility of a devaluation, we Argentines tend to choose the US dollar. That is why it is important to know the characteristics of banknotes and especially the security measures that allow us to differentiate those that are genuine from those that could be counterfeit.

In this case, the US Currency portal has provided us with important information to recognize all the security measures of each of the dollar bills. In this case we will talk about the one with a face value of 2 dollarswhose design shows us on the cover the portrait of Thomas Jefferson.

On the front of the 2 dollar bill you can see the portrait of thomas jeffersonone of the Founding Fathers and heroes of the independence of the United States. To his right, the seal of the Treasury Department behind the word TWO in capital letters. To the left of the portrait, the seal of the Federal Reserve is visible, and below it, the Serial Number.

The security measures are as follows:

  • The most visible is the watermark, which can be seen by holding the note up to the light to the right of the portrait, on the part without illustrations.
  • Embossed printing by running your finger over the banknote and feeling the unique texture achieved with this paper.
  • The composition of the paper is 75% cotton and 25% linen.
  • The reverse of the note features an engraving of John Trumbull’s painting “The Declaration of Independence.” While the original painting depicts 47 men, the note features 42 due to space limitations.
