The Goethe-Institut in collaboration with the Medifé Foundation, Artlab Academy and the Delegation of the European Union propose a festival that is designed to explore the dynamic synergy between these critical fields and begin to assemble a toolbox of knowledge necessary for those who participate to navigate this new and constantly evolving landscape.
Artificial intelligence seems to be reshaping every facet of our lives. Its intervention in the classic modes of creativity is a fact. It is necessary to propose new models to think about education and the norms and laws that regulate the use of AI. The times we live in offer us great opportunities and complex challenges.

The programming of this festival, proposed by the Goethe-Institut in collaboration with the Medifé Foundation, Artlab Academy and the Delegation of the European Union, is designed to explore the dynamic synergy between these critical fields and to begin to assemble a toolbox of knowledge necessary for those who participate to set out to navigate this new, constantly evolving landscape.
The line-up of guests, which will include researchers, lawyers, artists, curators and scholars, will include a prominent presence of German photographer Boris Eldagsen, a pioneer of AI images generated using diffusion models. His rejection of the Sony World Photo Awards in April 2023 started a global debate on the relationship between photography and AI-generated images. He was called “the poster boy for the AI debate” (SZ), and his image “PSEUDOMNESIA | The Electrician” became “the photo that stopped the world” (The Guardian) and an iconic symbol of a new era.
The festival’s programme aims to explore how to use Artificial Intelligence in the management of creative processes, understand the transformations in the field of translation, transform methodologies and pedagogical experiences and propose innovative solutions. The various panels and workshops will address these topics, the challenges posed to contemporary everyday life and there will also be art exhibitions and live performances.
Thematic axes:
- The Role of AI in Creativity: Examine how AI technologies, such as generative models and machine learning, are influencing artistic expression, design, and problem solving. Discover the ways in which this new technological development can enhance human creativity and drive art and innovation.
- AI in educational settings: the potential of AI in educational and professional contexts will be explored, investigating future skills, implications for educators and the configuration of new assessment and grading scenarios. AI can contribute to greater educational quality and equity and offer new tools. The challenges for the future will be discussed.
- Ethical, legal and practical considerations: the ethical dimensions, challenges and opportunities for AI regulation and legislation will be discussed. How to rethink in light of technological progress. Classical notions such as authorship and the ethical implications related to data privacy and the issue of bias. Consideration will be given to the cultural changes brought about by technical innovation and its modes of use.
- AI and translation: Will artificial intelligence make the profession of translator unnecessary in the future? What can AI translation really achieve and how do experts assess future developments?
The festival, which will take place over four days, seeks to highlight with these conversations the interdependence and interrelation that the areas of life have with AI. To close, in the evening, there will be a party with DJ sets.
The program is aimed at educators, artists, technologists, practitioners, and audiences interested in the convergence of AI, creativity, and education. It is also of interest to policymakers and leaders seeking to understand the broader implications of these technologies on society.
The activities will take place at three venues: Goethe-Institut Buenos Aires, Artlab and CAI (Centro Audiovisual Immersivo) from 4 to 7 September 2024.
