Flag bearer Edina Müller was unable to repeat her triumph from Tokyo 2021 in the kayak. Anja Adler and Felicia Laberer also won medals on the regatta course.
Canoeist Edina Müller missed out on the gold medal she had hoped for on the final day of the Paralympics. The flag bearer at the opening ceremony came third in the 200-meter kayak on the regatta course in Vaires-sur-Marne, a suburb of Paris, and won bronze. Three years ago in Tokyo, the paraplegic Müller was able to win gold. Anja Adler and Felicia Laberer also won bronze at the end and were able to increase the number of German medals in the French capital to 49 (10 gold, 14 silver and 25 bronze).
Compared to the historically poor performance at the 2021 Tokyo Games (43 medals), the German Disabled Sports Association was able to increase the number of podium finishes. In Japan, however, the German para-athletes won 13 gold medals, three more than in Paris. They also missed out on making it into the top 10 in the medal table.
