Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has criticized his ex-club that United is in “chaos” even under the new coach Ralf Rangnick.
Although the 63-year-old is highly regarded, especially in Germany, Scholes does not believe that he has what it takes to run the “largest club in the world”.
“That’s something I can’t understand. We should have the best, and we haven’t,” the 47-year-old rumbled on the YouTube channel’s podcast Webby & O’Neill.
Scholes would have favored Conte as United coach
Rather, the Red Devils should have signed Antonio Conte when he was available. The Italian would have been an “ideal” successor to the dismissed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. “Some people say he’s not a good fit for Manchester United, but we’ve seen what he’s achieved at Tottenham with a squad that isn’t nearly as good as United,” said Scholes.
After leaving Inter Milan in the summer, Conte joined United’s league rivals Tottenham Hotspur in early November. The Red Devils only parted ways with Solskjaer three weeks later.
