Charles Hoskinson, founder of the Cardano blockchain platformwill meet with the president in October Javier Milei. The meeting, scheduled for October 19, was confirmed by Hoskinson himself in a recent interview. The central purpose of the meeting will be to explore the potential impact of blockchain technology on the economy and political systems both in Argentina and globally.
During his participation in the Tech Forum Argentina, Hoskinson will seek to take advantage of the opportunity to discuss with Milei how blockchain could transform not only the Argentine economybut also global systems. A key issue will be the possibility of Argentina adopting a central bank digital currency (CBDC), as well as exploring possible technological alliances necessary to revitalize the country’s economy.
“We have had many conversations with his team, and I will meet with him probably on October 19, although it is not yet fully confirmed. The important thing is that we have talked about the future of blockchain and its application in Argentina,” said Hoskinson.
He also said the discussions will cover a variety of topics, including Argentina’s approach to technology and its potential adoption of a central bank digital currency (CBDC).
Cardano strengthens ties with Argentina
Hoskinson commented that he is in line with Milei. He defined this as a philosophical affinity in the fundamental principles of the crypto world. He described him as a “philosophical Austrian,” referring to the economic school that promotes the free market and the reduction of state control. According to Hoskinson, this vision of Milei is aligned with the ethos of cryptocurrencies, which seeks to limit government intervention in monetary systems.
“Philosophically, Milei is very similar to what Ludwig von Mises and Murray Rothbard defended. Politically, she has a perspective very aligned with what the crypto industry represents.“, noted the founder of Cardano.

The upcoming meeting builds on Cardano’s already strong ties with Argentina. The Cardano Foundation is highly active in the country, establishing multiple partnerships to promote local blockchain adoption. In June 2024, the foundation signed another agreement to further integrate blockchain technology.
Chairman Milei, known for his pro-crypto stance, has publicly endorsed Cardano on social media. In May 2024, he shared a Cardano-related message from Dario Epstein, and has since shared several posts from Hoskinson himself.

Milei confirmed her participation in the Tech Forum Argentina through a post on social media on September 17The news coincides with Cardano’s progress towards decentralized governance under the Voltaire era of its roadmap. On September 1, Cardano performed its first hard fork in this era, introducing community-led governance mechanisms.
Another highly anticipated upgrade within the network is the Leios upgrade, which Hoskinson says will make the platform “faster than Solana without losing decentralization.” Cardano’s final Constitution, which will formalize these on-chain voting features, is expected to be approved in December 2024.
