Martha Washington

These are the African-American figures who left their signature on dollars
Today, there are no African Americans depicted on dollar bills of any denomination. But in history, there are records of four people of African descent who were part of the treasury records, whose signatures can be seen on some of the bills.
These people are Blanche K. Bruce, Judson W. Lyons, William T. Vernon, and James C. Napier. Until 1923, the two signatures that appeared on the banknotes belonged to the Treasurer and the Registrar of the Treasury Department, therefore, from 1914 until this year, 4 of the 17 signatures that appeared on all series of banknotes belong to these people of African-American descent.
Dollar: Which woman appeared on a banknote?
It is worth noting that a woman did appear in the portraits on the front of the dollar bills. This is Martha Washington, and she appeared on the 1 dollar bill from 1886 and 1891. And also on the back of the 1896 bill.
