As can be seen in videos circulating on the Internet, the person in question actively participated in violent actions. Rapid said it would investigate the incident and question the employee.

Rapid: Bans on firecracker throwers

The press release stated the following about the possible sanctions against rioters: “Persons who are guilty of gross misconduct, in particular by setting off firecrackers, throwing pyrotechnic items or storming the pitch, will be subject to the applicable sanctions by SK Rapid. These are (a) the imposition of an indefinite ban from the Allianz Stadium, (b) the application for a nationwide stadium ban and, if necessary, the withdrawal of membership and annual ticket.”

The Hütteldorfers also stressed that they had welcomed almost 125,000 spectators to the Allianz Stadium before the derby this season, proving “that the home of SK Rapid is fundamentally a safe venue. It is all the more regrettable that these incidents occurred late on Sunday afternoon and that, above all, highly flammable firecrackers were able to get into the guest sector of the stadium and were set off. How this happened despite a large number of security personnel and law enforcement officers is also an important part of the investigation into the events.”
