In today’s test match against GAK, the LASK fans will not have the opportunity to see the newcomers on their feet if they are used. The game will be played behind closed doors on the recommendation of the Bundesliga. And it must also be assumed that the league opener on February 13 against Austria Klagenfurt will only be slightly different.
“After the last talks with the authorities, we assume that a maximum of 2000 spectators will be allowed,” confirms LASK Managing Director Andreas Protil. This number can only be reached if the clubs agree to play under the so-called “2Gplusplus” rule. In other words, the viewers must have had a booster vaccination in addition to the vaccination. And you also have to show a current PCR test.
No evening games in the ÖFB Cup
“The aim is to find a uniform regulation among the clubs. I think that every club wants to allow as many fans as possible to visit the stadium,” says Protil. 1000 spectators would be allowed if the 2Gplus rule (normal vaccination plus PCR test) applies. If the 2G rule is applied (without a PCR test), only 500 spectators are allowed in the stadiums.
Even before the start of the league, LASK (in Salzburg) and SV Ried (at home against Austria Klagenfurt) in the first week of February are about to reach the semi-finals in the cup. The Innviertler game is (still) scheduled for 8.30 p.m. on February 4th. However, it should probably be rescheduled to an earlier date, as otherwise the curfew for the gastronomy (10 p.m.) could not be observed. The Innviertler are also testing today in the old stadium against Vorwarts Steyr without spectators. The game is played on the artificial turf pitch, which does not have the necessary assigned seats. Yesterday, Rieder signed Josef Weberbauer (GAK), a compatriot of neo-trainer Robert Ibertsberger. The two natives of Salzburg know each other very well. (haha)
