Domestic workers: meeting to define a new increase for October

Following the suspension of the conclave on Wednesday, September 18, La National Commission for Work in Private Homes (CNTCP) will seek to define on Tuesday the percentage of salary increase for domestic workers for October. The meeting will be attended by the Union of Private Household Workers (UPACP).

For the time being, the current month will remain unchanged after the last salary agreement which had a 13% adjustment, distributed as follows: 8.5% for July and 4% for August. After today’s meeting it will be announced if there was an agreement on the wage correction.

Domestic workers seek wage adjustment

Prior to the meeting, the secretary of the Union of Domestic Workers, Ana Altamiranodenounced: “For now the salary remains the same Same with the 4% increase for the month of August“. The latest agreement in the sector achieved an adjustment of the 13% which was distributed over two months: 8.5% for July and 4% for August.

Which categories of domestic workers will see their salaries rise in October?

There are five professional categories for the staff included in the special regime for domestic work contracts which will absorb the next wage correction. These are:

• Supervisor
• Staff for specific taskssuch as cooks.
• Homemade
• Assistance and care of people
• General Task Staff

Two increases confirmed for October

Since October, domestic workers who receive the Universal Child Allowance (AUH) will see an increase in 4.2% on your monthly payments. This will bring the amount to approximately $87,822 per beneficiary.

This update, still pending officialization in the Official Gazette, adds to the benefits of the Social Rate, which offers discounts on train and bus tickets.
