New bus strike?: Government meets with companies to define ticket prices and subsidies

Bus companies demand a minimum “technical” ticket price of $1,305

The bus companies have already announced that if they do not generate an increase in their income they will not be able to comply with the previously agreed salary agreements or with a new agreement. This week they already demanded that the Undersecretary of Transportation, Mariano Plencovichset a ticket “technical” minimum of 1,305 pesos starting next month.

So far, the floor recognized by the Government is 870 pesos, of which 371 are paid by passengers and the remaining 500 are covered by subsidies provided by the Nation, the City of Buenos Aires and the Province.

The Secretary of Transportation, Franco Moggetta said that for the time being there will be no further increases in bus fares. In order to reach the amount claimed by the companies, state support would have to be increased, which is also not planned by the government.

The chambers that made this request were the Argentine Association of Motor Transport Entrepreneurs (AAETA) and the Chambers of Passenger Transport Businesses (CEAP), Urban Transport Businesses of Buenos Aires (Cetuba), Transport of the Province of Buenos Aires (Ctpba) and United Entrepreneurs of Urban Passenger Transport of Buenos Aires (Ceutupba).
