Why is Commercial Employees’ Day celebrated every September 26 in Argentina?
The workday was established by Law 26541 passed on December 10, 2009, but refers to September 26, 1934, when labor relations were established by the passing of Law 11729, during the presidency of Agustín Pedro Justo.
This legislation was made possible by the pressure exerted by the organization then called Argentine Federation of Commercial Employees, which managed to establish, among other rights, severance pay and sick leave and accident leave for commercial workers.
What will commercial activity be like on Commercial Employee Day in Argentina?
On Thursday, September 26, which is originally the National Day of the Commercial Employee, the activity will take place as usual. But Monday, September 30, was the day chosen to move the holiday and give workers in the sector a rest and thus take advantage of the date as a long weekend.
